"Why do so many big artists hate touring?" - Jaime Brooks§

I like the ironic post-human gambit Brooks makes in the context of the evergreen crisis of "Chappel Roan was mean":

What if Chappell Roan’s humanity—her need for boundaries, for privacy, her foibles and idiosyncrasies—makes the masses value her less? What if virtual celebrities who never feel compelled to keep the audience at arm’s length for any reason start to become the baseline? What if they simply outcompete the alternatives? [...] The world that’s coming values different things. Consistency. Professionalism. Accessibility. Faces that don’t visibly age or outwardly betray emotion. Nervous systems that can’t be hijacked by the inconvenient complexity of desire. Eyes that don’t close, even to sleep. Lips that don’t ever say “no” for any reason.

FOREST EUPHORIA: the abounding queerness of nature - Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian§

Enrique Salmón, member of the Rarámuri people, describes this concept through the word “iwígara”: a belief that all life-forms are interconnected and share the same “breath” and that everything that breathes has a soul.

Some Ancient Greeks thought the animacy of living things came from air, which is why Pythagoras was a vegetarian that refused to eat beans-- they were so abundant in life-animating pneuma that they made you fart.

U - underscores§

This moody, mid-tempo song isn't an arena-pleaser like the singles, but I love some moody lyrics over a track that's mostly vocoder.

The Venture Bros: Radiant Is The Blood of the Baboon Heart§

The friend group has decided that I'm going to be Dean for the group Venture Bros cosplay.

Securing my homelab§

I want to get all my self-hosted shit behind a VPN. Tailscale is buzzy for being "easy", but it's only easy if you use Tailscale's servers-- which, like, I don't want to. Then everyone says you should integrate with an OAuth2 provider, so I decided to finally try setting up Authelia.

The only thing carrying me through the amount of troubleshooting I'm doing is my variety pack of High Noon hard seltzers.

woke is back. woke was never gone. woke is stronger than ever. we are charlie woke. we carry the flame.

thirstposting for mid cartoons§

I wanted to mock people for thirsting after Venture Bros characters but I'm literally a bobsburgersfucker. Glass houses. We're all sick.

hard drives? in this economy? part 2: the SATA-SAS debacle§

After last week's failure I adjusted my expectations. My head was swirling with acronyms-- CBR, OEM, SAS, SATA, PKI, RAID 0... I finally settled on a couple refurbished 8TB hard drives. When I tried to install them to the Synology DiskStation DS223j only one would fit in the slot. Turns out I bought two hard drives with SAS-type connections instead of SATA-type. And despite the Synology accepting one of the SAS connections, the board doesn't support the SAS protocol.

So my stupid ass has to mail back $500 of hard drives on Monday and try again.

This is my best attempt doing cable management at work and. It's obviously not great.
